Bloomsday at Sundance

We're easing back into face-to-face events with a celebration in the yard!

Wednesday, June 16 at 5:30pm, Dr. Daniel Morse and Dr. Marshall Johnson return for Bloomsday, a celebration of James Joyce's Ulysses. Bloomsday is a literary holiday held annually on June 16th—the day depicted in the novel—to celebrate Ulysses and James Joyce. For everyone's health and safety, this year we'll celebrate Bloomsday outside in front of the store. Dr. Morse and Dr. Johnson will give a presentation on the classic, field questions from the audience, and share a few of their favorite passages with help from special guests. All those who wish to are strongly encouraged to come ready to read a brief passage aloud (about a page, tops), but knowledge of Ulysses is neither expected nor required—all are welcome!

Daniel Ryan Morse is the author of Radio Empire: The BBC's Eastern Service and the Emergence of the Global Anglophone Novel (Columbia UP, 2020) and the Fitzgerald Distinguished Professor of the Humanities at UNR.

Dr. Marshall Johnson is a Lecturer at UNR. His first book project is entitled The Smooth and Striated: Ulysses and Narration as Perpetual Motion.
